How to Make Fish Stock

Ling makes a killer stock! But if not available see what we have in store at John's Fish Market. Our staff can help you choose a suitable species.

Making your own fish stock is very easy and if you make a lot then separate it out into containers and freeze them. Fish stock freezes really well and you always have it on hand when you need it for divine risotto or scrumptious seafood chowder!

 

  • In a pot put a couple of fillets of Ling, 2 peeled whole onions, celery leaves and lots of salt.
  • Fill the pot with water. Boil then simmer until the stock is flavoursome. Check after 15 minutes.
  • This makes a beautiful base for seafood chowder.
