Spicy Fish Shish Kebabs

This is a healthy twist on traditional meat kebabs...

Fish Kebabs:

  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 600g Hoki (or other fish) Pieces
  • Salt

Yoghurt Sauce:

  • 150g Greek-style yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • handful fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • Salt

In a bowl mix together the garlic and cumin. Add the fish pieces and stir till coated. Cover and put in the fridge for a couple of hours. Heat a pan or bbq to a medium to high heat. Season fish with salt and fry in olive oil or grill on bbq (with oil baste so fish does not dry out). Alternatively you can thread the fish onto bamboo skewers and then cook as above.

While fish is cooking mix all yoghurt sauce ingredients together.

Serve the fish with warm pita breads or tortillas, salad leaves, sliced tomato and red onion, dill pickles (sour) or gherkins (sweeter), chilli sauce and the yoghurt sauce. Add a squeeze or two of lemon juice.
