The beauty of Greek and Mediterranean cooking is that it’s healthy and fresh. You don’t need a trillion ingredients, you generally cook in 1 pot and the recipes aren't complicated.

In countries such as Greece, Spain and Italy, where fish is a major part of the diet, people are known to have healthier lives. And, since fish is easy to digest, it should be an essential part of a diet for all ages. 

 

Stock your pantry with the following and you are a Greek cook!

  • Olive Oil - cold-pressed from Greece naturally! (in store)
  • Lemons - a lemon tree in the garden would be very handy and we have the Just Lemon range of products in store
  • Paprika, Parsley, Dried Oregano, Bay leaf, Dill, Mint
  • Garlic
  • Onion (lots!)
  • White Wine
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Honey
  • Red Wine Vinegar
  • Capers
  • Greek Olives
  • Filo Pastry
  • Feta cheese
  • Lentils
  • Chickpeas
  • Harricot Beans

 

Vegetables and Fruit:

 Zuccini, Eggplant (Aubergine), Spinach, Potatoes, Green Beans, Broad Beans, Green Peppers, Cucumbers, Okra, Tomatoes, Lemons (sauces are either lemon based or tomato based).
